Kilowat Says Romania's Solar Boom Is Outrunning the Grid

The next stage of the market, Albert Soare argues, depends less on installing panels than on modernizing networks and producing power closer to where it is consumed.

In a ZF Live interview published in March 2025, Soare argued that Romania's solar expansion had reached an infrastructure constraint. The country's next energy system, he said, should be more decentralized, allowing electricity to be generated and used locally instead of relying primarily on distant production and long transmission routes.

He also criticized the enrollment process for the Casa Verde Fotovoltaice program, describing it as a contest of digital speed in which software and scripts could matter more than the underlying project. In parallel, he called for legislation that would let condominium associations install and use photovoltaic systems on apartment buildings.

The underlying message extends beyond the residential market: distributed generation, storage and local grid upgrades must advance together. For developers and contractors, that means the commercial opportunity is increasingly tied to electrical infrastructure, not only to the supply and installation of panels.
