Terronova has begun construction of an artificial-intelligence data center campus near Campinas, one of Brazil's largest technology and industrial centers.
The initial phase represents an investment of more than $500 million and will be supported by a substation with 300 megawatts of capacity, scheduled to enter service in December 2027. The site has been designed for potential expansion beyond one gigawatt, placing it among Latin America's most ambitious digital-infrastructure developments.
The project will use direct liquid cooling and a closed-loop water system, technologies increasingly required by high-density AI computing. The wider site covers approximately 944,000 square meters, with most of the land reserved for green areas, municipal infrastructure or future development.
Unlike many recently publicized data center proposals, Campus Campinas has moved beyond the announcement stage: work on its first phase has formally started.
